and that's when the shit hit the fan
It didn't actually hit the fan but it did hit pretty much everything else. I spent 3o minutes this morning cleaning up baby poop! I did not plan out how to get it cleaned up very well before I started so I ended up with a huge mess. Jackson pooped out of his diaper all over his back and his onesie. Obviously I needed to take off his clothes to begin clean up so as I took off the onesie I got poop all over his little back and the blanket that was on his changing table. Now I needed a way to wipe him off, so I thought I would just put him in his little tub but how to get a poop covered baby from the changing table to the tub was the next problem. So I wrapped up the poopy baby and clothes in the blanket and came downstairs to the tub. At this point he was still wearing the diaper because I had forgotten to take it off upstairs. I got the diaper off and in the garbage and put the baby in the tub. I finally managed to get him turned cleaned off in the tub and then re-dressed him but then I had poopy clothes, blanket, and baby tub to clean. Jax didn't want to sit by himself in his swing so I strapped him in the baby carrier and began the cleaning process with a baby hanging on my chest. I guess all's well that ends well and the outfit came clean but it was quite the adventure this morning!

The jeans have returned
That's right, Jax will be four weeks on Tuesday and I'm wearing jeans. Not my "skinny" jeans mind you, but my old jeans none the less.
I hear the monkey from the Lion King when he said, "the king has returned" only he is saying "the jeans have returned". I'm really excited about this, I still have some weight to lose and a lot of toning to do, but I'm on my way to my old self :)

My husband is not as excited as I am and so he didn't even get the jeans in the picture, but trust me they're on.

A Historic Day
Today was an event in Atlanta. We had 7 inches of snow in our yard, according to Keith's measurements. Keith got to stay home with Jackson and me. It was nice to have a long weekend with our little family. He is delayed until 10am tomorrow and may not have to go in at all. All of the schools were closed today, and most have already canceled for tomorrow. The street in front of our house is covered in ice, and I'm sure most of the side roads are.

The weight of the snow broke our umbrella. I guess we should have closed it.

Keith shoveling the snow with a piece of wood. I had a snow shovel from my college days in Michigan but he threw it out a few years ago since we would never need it :)
Keith sledding on a boogie board from our Florida vacations.

I had to get at least one photo of Jackson in the snow to document the "blizzard of 2011" for him.

My Baby Story
Last Tuesday, December 28, I went to the doctor for my 39 week visit. My dad came to Georgia the day after Christmas so he went with me just to get out of the house. When I got there my blood pressure was high and there was protein in my urine. The mid wife came in and checked my blood pressure 2 more times, and then told me I was going across the street to the hospital. When I got to the hospital I had to check in at labor and delivery for more tests and monitoring. They told me that I didn't have to call my husband at work at this point because I might go home in an hour. At this point my dad was more nervous than I was. As they began to monitor my blood pressure and run blood tests it became clear that all was not well. My blood pressure climbed to 160/124 in a matter of hours. I called Keith and told him how high it was and he left work immediately. By the time Keith got to the hospital at 3 it had been determined that I would be having a C-Section at 5:30 that afternoon and that they would start an IV of magnesium.

The magnesium made me so sick and weak that Keith had to do everything for the baby on Wednesday, including holding him while I nursed so I wouldn't drop him! After they took me off the magnesium I began to feel better by the hour. By Thursday morning I was walking around on my own and able to shower and wear my own clothes. We got to come home on Friday afternoon around 3:00.

We have been home for almost a week now and things get easier every day. Jax went to his pediatrician on Tuesday is already back to 7lbs 10 oz. He was 7 lbs 13 oz at birth and 21 inches long. I feel like I could write down everything he does because it all seems precious to me! It is truly amazing how you can love one little person so much in such a short time.

Distant memories
We have been taking a picture of me every week since 7 weeks. I remember we waited until then because that's when I started to show. Ha! I just looked back through them, I don't even look like the same person. My stomach looks like a purplish red tiger now. My belly button looks like it is about to rupture and I'm pretty sure I have a double chin. I know many ladies who returned to their former selves, so I have hope but it looks like a hard row to hoe from where I'm sitting right now. Monday will be 39 weeks and I'm really hoping for a 2010 baby. Fingers crossed!
